North Carolina Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation, Inc.
The Southern Jurisdiction supports aiding the aphasic and dyslexic child through its RiteCare Centers. Thousands of children are terribly afflicted by their inability to communicate. Unless helped, they face a lifetime of the inability to read or understand. In North Carolina, help is available through the North Carolina Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation. Clinics have been established at Appalachian State University and East Carolina University. In 2017, a new program was established at UNC Chapel Hill called Two to Talk. This program focuses on training parents to work in conjunction with speech therapists in continuing the training under the direction of the therapist. Specialists have been trained, equipment and materials have been made available to these specialists, and mobile units have been provided to some children in their own community.
The North Carolina Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation is a 501.C.3 charitable organization dedicated to providing present and future benevolent financial support toward the training of licensed professionals and treatment of children with speech, hearing, and learning disabilities who may receive services with little or no cost to families. Along with 170 such programs nationwide, we are achieving this mission through the generous support of our members, sponsors, and the public. In addition, North Carolina Scottish Rite members also support Masonic Youth organizations and victims of natural disasters recognized by the Masonic Service Association of North America.
The Almoner’s Fund
The Almoner’s Fund is set up in every Scottish Rite Temple to receive funds for the assistance of widows and orphans, and the destitute and physically handicapped, regardless of race or creed. Applications for assistance are often made from the Lodges in our jurisdiction whose members are more intimately aware, on a local basic, of those people in need of charitable assistance. Applications for assistance can also be made directly to the Almoner for investigation and disposition.
RiteCare Scottish Rite Childhood Language Program
In the early 1950s, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Colorado launched an innovative program aimed at supporting children with speech and language disorders. This pioneering initiative led to the establishment of the RiteCare Scottish Rite Childhood Language Program (SRCLP) clinics, providing comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and treatment for children
and families across the United States.
Today, SRCLP clinics, centers, and programs are thriving, thanks to the dedication of our members and the expertise of trained professionals. Our clinics serve as a beacon of hope for
families in need, offering a supportive environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.
The impact of our philanthropic efforts has been profound. Tens of thousands of young people have benefited from our programs, gaining essential skills that enable them to succeed in school and beyond. Our clinics have played a critical role in empowering children who might have otherwise faced significant challenges in their educational journeys.
The Scottish Rite Foundation, Southern Jurisdiction, USA, Inc., and local Scottish Rite Foundations provide vital funding for the SRCLP. We are grateful for the generosity of our
members and partners, which enables us to continue providing life-changing services to families across the country.

Our SRCLP clinics serve preschool-age children who struggle with speaking and understanding language, as well as school-age children who require support in learning to read. Some
centers also offer literacy training for adults.
While all children are eligible for our services, we encourage families to reach out to their local facility for specific information on age groups and program offerings. We strive to
provide accessible and inclusive care to all, regardless of racial or ethnic background, creed, or family financial situation.
