Brethren,
As you know, we continue to see the spread of COVID-19 throughout the country and the state of North Carolina. The Valley of Charlotte, is committed to protecting the health and well-being of our members and understands that many of you fall into the high risk category.
This is a rapidly evolving situation and we are working to provide you the most updated information available.
Following the declaration of emergency and requests from Governor Roy Cooper and the letter from Grand Master P. Shawn Bradshaw this week our S:.G:.I:.G:. Ill:. Dr. William B. Brunk issued the following memorandum:
“In keeping with the Grand Master’s directive, each Valley in the Orient of North Carolina is hereby directed to take similar steps to protect the health and welfare of its members. This includes postponing or cancelling Valley activities such as a stated monthly communication, reunions or any events in which large numbers of brethren and/or guests are assembled. Good judgement must be exercised to ensure the wisest course of action for each of our Valleys and I am depending on each of our leaders to do so in a manner consistent with the principles and values of the Scottish Rite.”
In light of these announcements the Valley of Charlotte is providing the following information and cancellation for our members.
- Cancellation of the April Stated Communication set for April 8, 2020
- Cancellation of the scheduled Maundy Celebration set for April 11, 2020
- Cancellation of the 2020 Spring reunion and all associated practice sessions scheduled Candidates will be notified immediately permitting schedule adjustments to be made so they will be part of the 2020 Fall reunion class
We will continue to monitor the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control, NC Department of Health and Human services and directions from S:.G:.I:.G:. Brunk to determine actions for the coming events.
