Masons Helping Children Update…

Brothers,

It has been a busy summer trying to get ready for the 2009 season for “Masons helping Children”. Jr. Continues to work on the two displays. You will see the finished product of the indoor display at Scottish Rite on Wednesday Night.

Monogram Magic is making a table cover for an 8ft. table that will be under the indoor display unit with the Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shrine and York Rite Symbols Monogrammed on the front. Jim Adams continues to work on the brochure and will have that soon. He is also looking at shirts with, “Ask Me…….What Masons do for Children ”
front and back to be worn during festivals.

Right around the corner is “Matthews Live”, no space is available there, I have talked to Mike Warr, PM Matthews Lodge about doing what we did last year, being on the porch of the Lodge and he has agreed for us to do that again. You may remember we had good response as the lodge is open with restrooms and a place to sit and get cool and enjoy the good food. Dates are Sept. 4th. – 7th. We will not put a up a tent. Masons Helping Children is on the tents so Jr. is working on how to put our name above the big units.

We are also approved to display at “Mint Hill Madness” and for the first time at “Celebrate Midland Magic” in October both at no charge. I know this is short Notice but we were trying to get most of this together before we call a meeting of all of you.
Lets meet at Scottish Rite on Wednesday the 2nd. at 3M and we can work right up top time to have dinner and the Scottish rite Meeting.

We need to talk more about staffing these festivals and while we are talking we can put the new pictures that have been laminated on the large posters for the outside display. I am excited about getting back out there and telling the world what Masons do for Children. I hope to see you on Wednesday at 3PM

Have a Great Weekend,
Don Wilson

BUS TRIP TO ANOTHER VALLEY

Brothers,

I have organized a bus trip to The Valley of Winston-Salem. The bus holds 45 people, it would leave here at 4:00pm and return around 10:30pm. The costs is $19.00 per person round trip. This would be a great opportunity to visit another Valley and meet new brothers. Please let me know who is interested.

What IS a Scottish Rite Reunion?

We study mankind’s greatest questions and problems, and we have fun doing it. We mentioned the Degrees, the one-act plays, earlier. Those trace the history of man’s thought. They raise the great questions of ethics and morality. They ask us to consider just how those principles relate to our everyday life. More than one Mason has spent his life in the study of those
questions. But a Reunion is much more than that. It’s genuine fun and fellowship. A Reunion looks much more like a gathering of friends than a convocation of scholars. Many Reunions feature special social events such as dances or banquets. Masons from all over the state gather at each Reunion, to meet friends they have not seen for months, shoot the breeze,
share in fellowship, get reconnected. Please join us at our Fall Reunion on October 30 & 31. (and here’s a Petition for the Degrees CSR Petition for the Degrees ) Bring a Candidate or two with you!

Ambassador Dinner- August 27th

We are having a spaghetti dinner in your honor on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. here at the Scottish Rite Temple.

The reason for this dinner is to get all of the Ambassadors together for a meeting concerning our upcoming Fall Reunion and to give each of you packets and other required information. Please be sure to give these packets to candidates in all your Blue Lodges so that we can make this a successful Reunion.

Please call the office no later than Friday, August 21, 2009 to make your reservation.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Fraternally,

Brad Hufeld, 32°

Valley Secretary

NEW HANDICAP RAMP IN FRONT

Brothers,

We now have a new handicap ramp that was just put in for the front doors. This will make it much easier for meetings and Reunions or just visiting.
