Update on Scottish Rite Golf Plans for 2008

Brothers, your Scottish Rite Golf Committee has selected two tournaments for your enjoyment and to support the Children’s Learning Center. Our first will be the Roger Hart tournament to be held May 24 at the Charlotte National Golf Course. We were the designated charity for this tournament last year and had great success. They have chosen us again this year and we are looking for a better turn out this year. The second is the Sixth Annual Doug Mayes Children’s Charity Golf Tournament to be Held in October at the Raintree Golf Course. We are returning to Raintree where the tournament started. You can help support our efforts in many ways. First you can play in the tournament or form a team from work or church or your lodge. Second you can provide an item for our door prizes. Third you or your company can purchase a hole sign which will be placed at the tee boxes on the course. Many members have purchased personal signs to support the learning center. And finally you can purchase a dozen golf balls or a golf related item and bring it to the stated communication in March, April or May for the Roger Hart tournament. You do not have to be a golfer to help. We will also need members to help on the day of the tournament. Lets all get behind these fundraisers this year and make them better than ever.

Degree Casting for Spring ’08 Reunion …

In case you didn’t already know, a “Reunion” is the two day event held twice a year, when we confer the Scottish Rite Degrees!

Degree Casting 3

Directors of the Work, Ill. Allen Hardy and Ron Bowers, held a Casting Meeting for our Spring Reunion this afternoon in the library of the Temple. Degree Masters have been working hard behind the scenes (as always) lining up some of the best ritualists in North Carolina (maybe in all of the world of Masonry – I’m partial I guess!) to be ready for April 25th & 26th. Practices are set for April 13th & 20th – letters will be going out to the cast and crew shortly.

Degree Casting 2

It was a very productive meeting; the Stage Crew, Robing Crew, Choir, Supernumeraries and Assistants had some good comments. It takes more than a hundred dedicated Brothers to make one of these Reunions happen. There are still some parts that we need alternates for, if you’re interested, please let us know.

Our Secretary had some information about some costumes we are replacing, and made copies of the practice schedule for all present. We also talked about a new special piece of stage equipment that is being built by two of our able Brothers.

Degree Casting 1

As usual, the conversation and fellowship continued after the meeting. The new coffee pot (the Keurig B200 Brewing System) was a big hit with the guys. It makes a single cup of freshly brewed coffee, and everyone can choose from a variety of flavors. Come by and check it out if you get a chance!

See you at the Reunion!
